4 Ways To Be “Green” Online

HAPPY EARTH DAY!  Today we are reminded to take some time and do something good for the planet. Planting trees and biking to work are great, but there are other, less “hands on” approaches that have just the same impact and can be done from the comfort of your own home. Here are a few ways to adopt an eco-friendly lifestyle online!

1. Send eCards:  Save paper and CO2 emissions by going online and sending an ecard instead of printed greeting cards. Egreetings offers a variety of choices, and many of them are free!

2. Pay Bills Online:  In the United States alone, almost 1 billion pounds of paper is used for viewing and paying bills each year. By switching to online bill pay, you are not only saving tons of paper (literally), but many banks offer an easy, organized way to view and schedule your bill pay online.

3. Video Conferencing:  By eliminating the need to commute back and forth, video conferencing, in lieu of face-to-face meetings, saves both time and gas. It’s a simple way to conserve resources.

4. Emails:  Modify your email signature to include a ‘go green’ message such as ‘Print only if necessary. Save Paper, Save Earth’. It is a very simple change that potentially hundreds of people could see & hopefully partake in.
